On this day we walked around an expensive area of Barcelona taking pictures of architecture. In particular we tried to find buildings designed by Gaudi. The day ended with a concert at the Palau de la Música Catalana.
The musical presentation was Ensemble Fractales; an experimental music experience with a grand piano, several horns (saxophone, flute, clarinet, etc), a violin,a cello, and another instrument of some sort. We had a great time and got to pretend like nobles by sitting above the band as they played. It was really quite unusual in many ways including: the clarinet player took his instrument apart and played it by blowing into the top tube, the pianist was putting sheets of plastic in the piano mechanism itself and doing all kinds of unusual stuff with the piano strings. All in all a quite “modern” day.
