I only did one day of the Vatican because I got a stomach bug the next day. But K did the Vatican Day 2 pics so she’ll post those when we get to that day (in a couple of days).
Saint Peter’s Basilica
I heard someone say that it’s a basilica (instead of a cathedral) because it’s not run by a bishop. The Pope runs the show at Saint Peter’s, so it’s technically a “basilica”.
We actually were told that you needed to buy tickets to Saint Peter’s Basiclica by a kind-hearted soul hanging out at the Metro Station. He said we could just go to a store up the street and pay 25 Euros apiece. As it turned out we were let in for free!!! Maybe God was on our side?? Or maybe that guy was lying? I’m guessing the latter.
