Our time in Venice has come to an end. What a fun experience. Venice is like being in an alternate reality. It makes me imagine what life would be like if we had no continents. Just a bunch of developed islands linked together by boats.
We had to get out early to make our plane. This is our first/last sunrise in Venice.

We actually flew over Venice. This is a really good overview of what Venice and the surrounding islands look like.

So glad we came here. Everything looks like it did in the Harry Potter movies.
Getting our subway (“underground”) pass was a bit of a snafu. We ordered two passes in the machine, but only one came out. This was a total Brazil movie moment if I’ve ever seen one 🙂 I talked to a guy who walkie-talkie’d a women who came out from the machinery of the place with a smile and work overalls. She went up to the machine and hit it hard in hopes the ticket would pop out. No luck. So she went back through a service door and we could hear her fumbling around in the mechanisms behind the machine. “Bash. Crash” and a ticket popped out. We exchanged our appreciations through the little slot on the ticket dispenser, problem solved. Moving on…

Just down the street (in Hyde Park) is a really large Christmas festival. More pictures to come!
We had lots to figure out tonight. Most importantly, “Where can we get groceries?” .
