Was a big day!!!

Saw this statue on our way to Saint Sulpice Cathedral.

Note the versatile assortment of garden tools and such from the posterior.

Made it to Saint Sulpice Cathedral. This cathedral is actually bigger than Notre Dame!

K adding panache (and scale) 🙂

Reminds me of a Richard Thompson rendition of a song “I live in Trafalgar Square, with four lions to guard me”

The Crypt Tour

Time to start our crypt tour. Thanks K for organizing this adventure!

Just want to point out that all of the pictures for my blog posts were taken with my Motorola G 5G 2024 8GB. I got that phone in 2024 for $250! I really like Motorola phones and have used them for a decade or two after moving off of Samsung.

The cathedral as it is now was actually built on top of a much older church and was added to over the course of hundreds of years. The original church sits maybe 15ft under the current floor of the cathedral. The crypt tour explores the remains of this buried church which basically (as far as I can tell) was converted into a burial site for people VERY high up in the church and the political world.

That’s it for the crypt tour 🙂

This is what the paintings look like before and after restoration (I guess). Wow! It looks like someone took some window cleaner and a squigy to a portion of the painting! We’re really fortunate to have arrived in Paris after the concept of restoring sacred paintings had been accepted so commonly.

Final round through the cathedral.
