Today we went to Salvador Dali’s Theater in Figueres Spain. It was recommended to us by a friend of K’s and it really was a great time. We had to travel over an hour north of Barcelona to the town that Dali grew up in. In fact the theater that he eventually purchased and converted into a museum for his many works of art was the same theater that he exhibited his art at as a young child (if I have my history correct).

The Building Itself

The Paintings & Drawings

The Other Stuff

It had to be tough to be in a relationship with Dali. “So let me get this straight, you spent $100 bucks on that huge phone?”
This beautiful piece is a pendant sized work of art. I guess Dali has his own line of jewelry

Doodles

I thought these were really good.

This video is a trip. It’s a video of a piece of art that changes how it looks depending on the angle the viewer is at. I think it uses “lenticular printing“, but instead of showing a 3D scene it’s showing an effect that resembles bubbling.

Mirador Del Castell De Sant Ferran

We also went up a steep hill to Mirador Del Castell De Sant Ferran, a very large fortress. Unfortunately we missed the visiting hours by about 15 minutes. The guy there was funny. I tried to bargain with him to get us in but he pointed to the security camera and shook his head nope. No slack in the era of watch eyes everywhere.

So we meandered back to the train station after dodging about 15 young adult guys with tons of energy who looked bored and organized 🙂 Ended up following young kids playing in the road down side streets and saying “hola” to their parents who seemed amused/confused by the fact that tourists were scooting down their modest streets. A helpful middle aged guy seemed happy to put us in the right direction to the train station as we didn’t want to look even more like tourists than we already were so refused to look at our phones LOL. Everyone was nice and helpful.
