Murano is an island close to Venice and is known for their glass making skills. As we were walking down the streets of Murano we actually saw a guy blowing glass. It’s a small little island with a set of locals all its own. The communities are well maintained and the canals have small boats that people use to get around. We actually saw a small boat with two young women who dropped by to pick up a friend and then were off down the canal. Life when you have boats but no cars 🙂

In another post I actually go through a museum dedicated to Murano glass. Great pictures, and really interesting creativity going on here.

Before we made it out to Murano we walked out to San Michele island. The bridge was out on that day so we were able to walk all the way out there. It turned out to be a cemetery. Having overdone it on the whole cemetery thing (French cemeteries, Spanish cemetery) we decided just to walk through it and take no pictures.

We had an early evening meal off a similar canal just down the way. Good food!

Murano has a really nice church for this small island community
