The Art of Doge Palace
This place has tons of great art. Much of it resembles the Eastern Roman style (Byzantine Empire). I personally love the Byzantine-esque art. It seems to me a little more Gothic than non-middle-ages European art, but at the same time psychologically stable. I know that’s a bit of an arguable thing to say, but if you’ve seen a lot of Gothic art like K and I have you start to realize that these people seem absolutely dangerous and fearful. I still love Gothic art, but I’m glad my leaders (as yet) are not producing art where devils are feasting on peasants in hell (yikes)!

Weapons of War
Venice seemed like it was on the cutting edge of “hole making from a distance” technology. This would make sense because they were the conduit through which trade from the Middle East, Asia, and Europe met. Gun powder was from China, and metallurgy from Europe would have been essential components of arming soldiers in the Middle Ages with “boom sticks”.

Prison

Venice had a quite sophisticated judicial system. It seemed like there where opportunities for innocent people to be set free. BUT, if you violate the law you’d better be ready to serve time in the dungeons! Empathy wasn’t as broadly embraced in times where 3 times over 300 years 1/3rd of Venetians died in plaques. Life was tough, so punishment was double tough!
