K and I both got sick on Day 13, so jumping to day 14 here. The winters in Venice are brutal for disease. Tight spaces, a bunch of sick people from all over the world, you’re essentially living in a marsh that’s been paved over, it gets reasonably cold, old buildings that leak water and have huge amounts of moisture issues and mold.
We did well to make it this far without really getting sick. We’re in London now, and I got a flu here as well, but I think I actually was carrying it from Venice. In the last month I’ve been sick 3 times! I can’t remember that ever happening to me in my life before. With that said the only thing I would have changed would be to somehow acquire a dehumidifier for the AirBnB. It was a nice place (other then the moisture and mold)!

The Museum – Ca’ Rezzonico
This was a “new” nobility manor. In Venice to get into being in the “old” nobility (the families that really ran Venice) you had to become part of the Venice nobility before about 1300. They “closed the nobility book” as they called it. Everyone else was “new” nobility. Ca’ Rezzonico was part of this category, but they were esteemed in the city and went on to have important government positions in Venice AND even a Pope (I think)!

The Gallery – Galeries Bartoux Experience
This was a real find. We were looking in the window and a woman passed by us and said that it’s a free gallery. She was from California as well! Was nice to commiserate with a fellow Californian while we’re both halfway across the planet. She convinced us to go in, and what a find! Many of these statues are Dali’s!
