Venice was the largest trading empire in the middle ages. They connected Europe with the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. They also produced several goods that were notable throughout the known world. Perfume production was one of these notable fields.
This museum has a lot of the history of perfume production in Venice. I’m not sure if the perfume was actually created in Venice or the surrounding islands, but it was definitely controlled by houses of Venice.
Venice was actually founded partly by nobles from the Byzantine Empire (Eastern Roman Empire). They had an exclusive connection to the trade routes and materials needed for large scale perfume production.
This museum also had a collection of perfumes containers going back thousands of years. We started out with the perfume bottle collection.
They also had examples of popular perfumes over the millennia. Smelt pretty good to me.
Another Glorious Day In Venice

More Shinny Things
I’ve become a fan of taking photos of sparkly things (in case you couldn’t tell). These seem like pieces of plastic with colored stones. I bet you could make these at home somehow. They look great though.

Venice Is Known For Their Masks

I don’t really have a problem with Bezos. He has a really humble background and has a great interview with Lex Fridman. Good wisdom in the interview, some of which I’ve taken to heart (he’s a smart guy). The Trump connection has really tarnished his reputation though.
Too bad he got so much blowback on his wedding in Venice, but from my experience they’re not interested in the American way of life much at all. Bezos probably never got coughed on by a local, too insulated to experience what Venetians really think about the American way of life when money isn’t a lubricating factor. With that said, most people were really nice. The other guy in the poster can ESAD ASAP por favor.
My political rant LOL! First time in this blog 🙂 I’ve done well keeping that stuff out for the most part.

The Perfume Bottle Collection
3000ish years of perfume bottles. Most of them are from the last 200 years though.

The Museum Itself
The museum is a family house where the family was actually in the perfume business itself.
