The Fortuny House had some great history to it. It was actually a quite old building from the early days of Venice (1400s). Mariano Fortuny and his wife Henriette Negrin were quite entrepreneurial. They made money with fabrics, electrical products such as stage lighting, and Mariano was a fantastic painter + sculptor. They were into a wide assortment of technologies and forms of art.
