Giudecca is an Island right next to Venice proper. It seems like an island where a lot of locals to Venice live. I bet a lot of people commute from Giudecca to main Venice everyday for work. The island isn’t that big. It was easily walk’able in a day. We started at east end at San Giorgio Maggiore Church. We then discovered a free museum that extensively covers Murano glass. What a treat!

The churches were completely empty. I asked ChatGPT if Venice (and surrounding islands) had more churches per capita than any other spot on Earth. It replied back that Venice is definitely a contender for the title lol. It’s a lot of fun to see large church domes as you take water taxis from place to place, especially at night or as the sun goes down. Alas Venice is not as populated as you might suspect given the plethora of domes you see as you boat along the canals and into the Mediterranean Sea. But, boy does it make an impression on you to see them from the water at sunset. You feel like you’re in another world.

Christmas season is taking hold

In the background you can see Giudecca Island that we’re going to.
