Today we spent time in a huge park on the outskirts of Paris then walked past the Moulin Rouge on the way back. It seemed like seeing a show at the Moulin Rouge would be a fun thing to do but the tickets were quite expensive so we just passed on that.

For some reason some of the streets in Paris have pixelated graphics above the street names. Here’s a fun one. This is what ChatGPT said about it:
“What you’re seeing is street art — specifically a pixel-style mosaic placed above the street name “Rue Darwin” in Paris’s 18th arrondissement. The mosaic depicts the famous “evolution of man” sequence, done in an 8-bit video-game style, which ties in with the Darwin street name (Charles Darwin → theory of evolution).
Paris has quite a tradition of these pixelated mosaics. The most famous artist is Invader, who has been placing Space Invaders–inspired tile mosaics all around Paris (and worldwide) since the late 1990s. His works are pixel art made with ceramic tiles, designed to look like early video-game graphics. Other street artists have taken inspiration from him, so you’ll sometimes find different pixel art themes — like this Darwin/evolution reference.”

Just for fun I’m posting an image of our stairwell. Yeah if you don’t get your act together while going down these steps that could be the end of it! It’s a 10ft drop! Missing a step could be catastrophic!
Bois de Boulogne Park
We actually spent two days in Bois de Boulogne Park. This is the first day. We focused on rounding the largest island in the park, and then took a ferry to the island.

You can rent canoes. It looks like a nice park to spend a couple hours out on the water. We didn’t do that this time.

This building is on the island I mentioned above. It’s a nice little cafe. Very pleasant feel about it.

They have a carnival along the lake. Seems like a great place for young families.

On the way back we crossed an older area of town. The detail in the buildings were commendable.

On our way to the Moulin Rouge. Yeah they don’t really hold back here. I’ll just post this picture so you get a feel for the carnival atmosphere.

The Moulin Rouge. I remember the movie with Ewan McGregor being fun. This seems a lot different than that movie LOL!

A beautiful sunset, just like in the movies.
