Another cathedral on our way to the Louvre. Had some interesting peculiarities such as the clock tower with a dial that I wasn’t able to figure out. Perfect for a Dan Brown Da Vinci Code like book I’d imagine.

I’m not sure what this dial means.

Louvre (exterior)
This place is huge! It used to be a fortress. Who would’ve thunk to turn a fortress into an art gallery and have tourists fund the massive maintenance bill. Brilliant! Wonder if they’ll do the same thing for the Pentagon at some point far into the future.

This is called the “Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel”. It’s not the actual “Arc de Triomphe”, but it seems pretty close. The Louvre fortress is on either side.

It has pretty rose quartz (seems like to me anyways) columns. It’s quite colorful.

Looking back you can see the much of the Louvre grounds. There’s another section of it past the far wall/building, as well as sections of the building on either side of this photo (out of the shot).

So that’s all for the Louvre until we actually take the tour later this week. We might take two days for that, but we’ll see.
This day isn’t over yet! Still lots to see. I think we walked 9 miles on that day.
Next up Tuileries Gardens…
