Started out as a rainy day, but turned to sunshine by the end of it. We were inside for much of the day so the timing was good. Planning around the daily/weekly weather works out pretty well as long as you get a bit of luck ‘ta boot.

We get to bypass this line! If you go get the yearlong pass. It has many perks.
Overview of the early campus.

The Chapel

Lets Meet Louis XIV

The man, the myth, the legend. Probably had more wealth than any other man in human history! People thought he was a god. He thought he was a god (why wouldn’t he be given his situation). But unfortunately his final years were absolutely horrible health-wise. Yet he seems to have kept his act together and financed some amazing accomplishments in French history. I don’t know much more then that about him, but what a moment in the history of the world.

Did someone mustachio this painting?!?!

I guess not 🙂 LOL

I guess the mustache was real.

Rooms Rooms Rooms

You need a lot of rooms and a lot of garden area if you have 10,000 of your closest noble friends (and their staff) over for much of the year. The nobles actually complained about how crowded Versailles and the surrounding area was (go figure).

Hall of Mirrors

The nobles tended to inject themselves into mythical, heroic, or biblical scenes. Another post-truth society.

More Rooms

In the next post I’ll post our garden tour, and the tour of the Opera House and the Carriage Museum.
