We’re heading to a museum that was recommended to K by one of her friends. It’s a warehouse that houses artifacts of all sorts.

This would be my guess as to where the Ark of the Covenant is stored. (Screenshot from Raiders of The Lost Ark above)
First We’ve Got To Get There
It was a ways away. We did the whole Underground thing and then meandered our way through a shopping district, over a bridge, and into an industrial section of town.

They were making a light dusting of snow in here that would waft down on the breeze so you could get the full Christmas experience.
Encountered a CyberPunk marching band along the way.

That would be an ideal place for DragonCon 🙂
We Made It!

I really didn’t piece together from the title “Storehouse” that this place is an Ikea-like warehouse. It most definitely is though! And it’s not semi-disposable Swedish furniture. In fact we probably couldn’t afford anything there if it were for sale 🙂 Quite the mixed-universe experience (Ikea meets museum).

David Bowie Exhibit

They have an exhibit there with many thousands of items from David Bowie’s life. I think that Bowie gifted these items upon his death. David Bowie was quite the unusual cat. He did so many things that were outside of the box including starting up his own Internet Service Provider that he called BowieNet. What a guy! He was also a humanitarian and there are several letters in the exhibit that attest to his philanthropy.
K tried to book tickets for the Bowie exhibit online, but it was booked out for like a month. K is really great with convincing people via in-person chatty-chatting. We walked up to the exhibit passing all the signs that said basically “If you don’t have a ticket then don’t come this way”. I goaded her to “embrace the audacity of hope” and do her thing. K chatted the guy up and we were in like Flynn (for free )! K is magic like that.

Labyrinth The Movie (With David Bowie)
This exhibit had a massive amount of stuff from David Bowie including wardrobes and many volumes of personal letters he wrote, including letters about a movie that I really like: Labyrinth. I haven’t read the letters yet, but I snapped some pictures of one of the letters in particular where he appears to outline how he felt about the movie. The glare off of the letters was quite difficult to photograph around so I took pictures at an angle. Maybe they’ll even show up in order here. Looked like a fun read from the first page 🙂

We Saw A Bodur Show There As Well

Bodur and her band played a show. K thought it was going to all be improvisational as we’re listening. She laughed about as hard as I’ve ever seen her laugh when on the spot I said, “We’re veterans of the jam-band scene where you play enough shows to piece together an entire album. This is not that.” 🙂 The full story turned out to be that this band had made some music over this week in the giant room there for the Picasso exhibit. It was good music, I enjoyed it even though it was the younger generation pop. Interesting messages as well.
