Today I’m solo adventuring as Dan is down with the count with the flu. In an attempt to keep germs isolated, we’re both wearing masks (even to sleep) in our little studio apartment. Wish us luck! In the meantime, I’m off solo today so headed for the David Zwirner Gallery where they’re hosting a Diane Arbus exhibition. To see two exhibitions of two my great influential photographic muses in two different countries within a span of a week is pretty magic. Am counting my blessings on the way to the gallery.

Sanctum Santorum is classic Diane Arbus, photographing people in their homes and bedrooms. Stunning to see these prints. After spending hours in the exhibition, I wandered the area and visited a number of galleries, seeing paintings, sculpture, mixed media and performance. Headed to the Royal Academy of Art (most of the main exhibition was closed), then headed to the Linnean Society library to explore their cabinets of curiosities. I came up with a few random site goals, like “Chinatown” and “the Agatha Christie Statue,” but for the most part just enjoyed exploring random parts of the city and digesting the art that I’d seen. Right before I headed home, I found a shop that had artwork by Bob Dylan, Johnny Depp, Dr. Seuss and others. Just in case I hadn’t seen enough art today 🙂

On the way home, my phone crapped out on me and I managed to get a little lost on the tube. Forgot that multiple lines sometimes run off the same platform, so ended up on a couple of miss-trains. Got on one and a bunch of guys offered me booze from their selection in their bag, half the car was drinking, could not convince them that I wasn’t from Norway, found out one was visiting California this summer, and was more than happy to jump off the train when I finally figured out I was going the wrong direction. This never happens when Dan’s around… master of direction. Now will head home and see how my suffering fella is doing.
